About Us

Ukrainian School of San Diego

The Ukrainian School of San Diego was established with the support of the House of Ukraine in Balboa Park. We maintain a strong partnership with the House of Ukraine and work closely together to promote and preserve Ukrainian history, culture, language, and traditions within the Ukrainian community of the San Diego region.

Our mission is to educate and inspire the next generation by fostering a meaningful connection to Ukrainian heritage through engaging classes, cultural activities, and community events. We welcome children ages 2–14 who speak or understand Ukrainian, as well as children who are interested in expanding their knowledge of the Ukrainian language, culture, history, and traditions.

We currently offer classes from Pre-K through Grade 8. Instruction is provided in Ukrainian or in a Ukrainian-English bilingual format, creating a supportive environment where children can learn, grow, build friendships, and strengthen their connection to their Ukrainian roots.

In addition to regular classes, the Ukrainian School of San Diego, with the active involvement and support of parents, organizes a variety of cultural celebrations, educational programs, and performances throughout the year. These include Christmas celebrations, a concert honoring Taras Shevchenko, Easter events, Ukrainian Independence Day activities, and other special community events that help students deepen their understanding and appreciation of Ukrainian heritage.

Through language, history, music, traditions, and community engagement, we strive to cultivate pride in Ukrainian identity and provide a welcoming space where children and families can connect, learn, and celebrate their heritage together.
